SPRINGFIELD'S GUNDOGS FCI
BRAQUE DU BOURBONNAIS
FCI BOURBONNAIS POINTING DOG KENNEL IN DENMARK
We are planning our first Braque du Bourbonnais litter in Fall 2025! News will be updated soon..
Our kennel, Springfield's Gundogs FCI has been transferred from the German Kennel Klub to the Danish Kennel Club and we are planning a litter of Braque du Bourbonnais this fall. The dam of the litter will be C.I.B.J. VDH European Winner 24, German Winner 24, VDH European Youth Winner 23, German Winner 23, and Agria Junior Winner 23. Felicia Fleur vom Elstermann Hof. Felicia has achieved the most show titles ever achieved by a Braque du Bourbonnais in Germany. Felicia comes from an outstanding Braque du Bourbonnais line.
If you are interested in the breed, please read our
"breed profile".
If you are interested in a puppy, you can provisionally add yourself to a puppy buyer list using the field below. We will clarify all further details in a personal conversation.
As before, the Braque du Bourbonnais puppies will be raised with best possible care in our house, not far from the North Sea/Wadden Sea in southern Denmark. The German border is about 20 minutes away. The puppies can play in a 2000 square meter fenced garden at any time. Directly adjacent to the garden is our own hunting area for puppy training, with water, forest, and fields.
The sire of the prospective litter will be carefully selected and announced soon. The puppies will receive FCI papers from the
Danish Kennel Club.
Basics of our Braque du Bourbonnais breeding:
I only breed with mature females, i.e., between 2 and 3 years old, who conform to the breed standard and are healthy and show perfomance in the field. A hunting dog out of the "Sporting Group" must have healthy hips (A or B normal-fair), elbows, and shoulders, and must have perfect blood tests during the
general examination, as well as a heart and lung examination. Furthermore, regular heat and maternal quality and temperament play a role. An eye examination DOK is not required for Braque du Bourbonnais as no hereditary eye diseases have been reported to date.
The breed standard is to be interpreted that Braque du Bourbonnais are variously spotted/ticked with brown/fawn spots, with a base color of white, resulting in the colors "lie de vin" or "fleur de pecher."
Larger spots or markings are tolerated according to the breed standard—this coloration of the breed is unique and it is a rare middle sized breed with unique working abilities. Felicia is 53.5 cm (21 inches) tall.
Another great advantage of the breed is that it is relatively" young" dog breed.
Almost extinct after the Second World War, it was re-established by Michel Comte, Jean Paul Buot, and others. It is well known that Breeds that have been bred for centuries have more genetic diseases. I personally refuse mating bobtails or bobtail breeding,, as this limits, among other things, the diversity of the breed, Felicia has, as almost all Pointers today, a long tail.
About Felicia Fleur vom Elstermann Hof
Felicia Fleur vom Eltermann Hof and her half-sister Emy are born in Germany. Her ancestors are french.
Felicia moved to us at 8 weeks and was initially a calm, cheerful, and lively puppy. As soon as her radius expanded from the garden to the hunting ground, she demonstrated the skills of her ancestors and was very fast and precise, earning the nickname "Flitzie."
At three months, she was flushing through a rapeseed field with sows and stayed on the deer trail for 500 meters, This demonstrates her fearlessness, nose, and passion. Felicia is a very good pointing dog, pointing for several minutes and has excellent hunting and dog sports skills. At exhibitions, she has achieved the most exhibition titles ever achieved by a Braque du Bourbonnais in Germany. Here you can see Felicia live, not in the show ring, but in the
fields
and she shows a little
dummy training six months old.
Felicia's father is CHAMPION INTERNATIONAL DE TRAVAIL TR CH-FGT CH-FGN CHITF CH-FTP NESTOR DE LA BENIGOUSSE. Nestor is the Braque du Bourbonnais in France who has received the most hunting champion titles. In 2021 Nestor won the "Open de France" with CACIT, the most prestigious hunting competition for all pointing dog breeds (134 Pointing Dogs at the competition) in France. A year later, he took a second place with RCACIT. Nestor comes from the "de la Benigousse" breeding line of Jean Paul Buot. Jean Paul Buot is a breeder and judge and has bred over 100 hunting Braque du Bourbonnais champions. VAJANI'S TRESOR NURI, Felicia's mother, descends from the breeding line in Switzerland, "Des Cimes d'Or," by Gerard Andrey. Nuri is bred by Nicole Waeber. "Vajani's Tresor" Nuri is also a beautiful and caring bitch and has passed her HZP. Both of Felicia's parents have A-grade hips and impeccable health results. Felicia is HD-B, ED 0/0, OCD 0/0. Felicia's siblings have passed aptitude tests and BP. Her sister Florina vom Elstermann Hof won a search test against six candidates of other french pointing breeds. Frodo vom Elstermann, Hof, Felicia's brother, lives in Austria and is a stud dog.
